Over the course of its more than 30-year history, Oregon Contemporary Theatre has earned a reputation for high artistic quality and commitment to presenting challenging and diverse scripts.
Randy Lord and Chris Leebrick set out in 1992 to create a daring professional theatre engaging the cultural diversity of Lane County; the result was the Lord Leebrick Theatre Company. Initially, the founders ran the company as a team. Then they traded leadership, first with Chris as Artistic Director, then Randy. When Randy left the company in 2000, the Board--after some serious reflection--maintained its commitments to the company's mission and hired Corey Pearlstein as the company's first non-founding Artistic Director.
Our current Producing Artistic Director, Craig Willis, replaced Pearlstein in 2003. Willis has an MFA in Directing and a PhD in Dramatic Literature and Theory. Additionally, Willis has remarkable business acumen, having spent six years in corporate sales and more than 20 years in artistic administration. The company has become increasingly professional with each leadership change, raising its profile locally, regionally, and nationally.
