Oregon Contemporary Theatre commits to fostering and supporting theatre that dismantles the structures of systemic racism and white supremacy. We recognize the critical role theatre plays in our culture and accept our responsibility to advance positive change through our work, our practices and our policies. We commit ourselves to anti-racism and to actively confronting and addressing racial inequities in our company, our industry and our culture.
We welcome calls for accountability from and for our community, which includes the OCT Board and staff, artists, audiences and colleagues.
This statement is a living document and will evolve as a guiding principle for building equity in our company and community. We seek to challenge assumptions about race, address disparity in outcomes, and invite and center new perspectives, especially those of Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC).
